The more you know ... the more you come to know ... how 'Little' you know. Dr. Bhupesh C. Little Professor | Photographer | Mentor | Visionary Dr. Bhupesh C. Little is one of India's most distinguished photography educators, acclaimed photographers, and visual arts mentors. With a remarkable career spanning over four decades, he has dedicated his life to advancing the art, science, and education of photography both in India and internationally.A recipient of more than 50 international awards, 14 foreign fellowships, and numerous national honors Dr. Little is widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to photography education.
He played a historic role in the development of photography as an academic discipline in India. The MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in Photography was introduced at Lucknow University in 1996, and in 2011 he completed his PhD in Photography, setting new academic benchmarks for the discipline and becoming one of the country's foremost scholars in the field.His work has been exhibited, collected, and appreciated by prestigious institutions, museums, and organizations across the world. His photographs are part of the collections of renowned institutions including the Metropolitan Museum, Spain; The Photographic Society of America (PSA); Academy of Fine Arts; FIAP, France; World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF); Corbett National Park; and various Ministries of the Government of India, in addition to numerous private collections in India and abroad.Dr. Little is also recognized as one of the very few Indian photographers to have practically worked with Black & White Infrared Film Still Photography. According to available information, only about 12–15 photographers in Indian photographic history are known to have significantly practiced this highly specialized medium between the late 1800s and the early 2000s, making his contribution both rare and historically significant.As an educator and academic leader, he has served leading universities in India and abroad, mentoring generations of photographers, researchers, artists, and visual storytellers. Beyond his achievements as a photographer, Dr. Little is celebrated for his dedication to nurturing talent, developing academic frameworks for photography studies, and promoting visual literacy as a powerful medium of communication and cultural expression.His expertise spans fine art photography, visual research, darkroom and analogue processes, exhibition curation, photographic education, and visual communication.
